I left a front Major Toms wheel with White Industry hubs & Baby Limus tubular tires on Navajo Drive just outside the school. Did anyone see this wheel?

      I picked up your wheel

Sweet! It was a Hed Belgium tubular wheel, not a Major Tom. Can I meet you next week?

In my post-race stupor, I left a two water bottles by the start gate. Is there a rummage pile at races for water bottle retrieval or do they head straight to the recyclers? No biggie either way, but I’ll get them back if I can.

On this note, thanks, as always, to all the CCC staff, race organizers and volunteers.

I have a bag of water bottles that were picked up at the end of the day. I’ll have them at the MSBSS tent on Sunday.

I had a great time at the race, but the hood of my car got bashed in when it was parked on Papoose Road sometime after 1pm. Did anyone else have any vandalism issues, or was I just unlucky?

Thank you for the awesome course! definitely my favorite since I’ve been racing CX. The early morning slop added an element of challenge, but wasn’t so bad that you’d break your bike or had to run half the course.

Some of your finest work this season, and I hope everybody takes the time to go thru the terrific pictures. They tell the story (in chronological order) of the entire race day with such great focus on the racers as well as the entire ChiCrossCup scene. I did not realize that this included tree climbing just to catch ‘the shot’ until I saw it here. Thank you Morleigh and Nathan for your professionalism, sacrifice, passion, and overall awesomeness!

My apologies to race day staff including Registration, Main Street Bicycles, USA Cycling Officials, One2Go Event Services for being such a jerk when we were running a few minutes late on a few start times. I clearly understand that nobody needs to be there, and we are all giving our best, overcoming snafus as they pop up.
I certainly would not want all of my missteps, blunders, misprounced names to be pointed out every single time. I am sorry.

Now to the good. First off; that course was amazing. I was grinning ear to ear the lap I rode. Nice job Jeff, MSB/SasSquad, AND Mother Nature!!

Everybody is so great on recognizing the need to adapt every week. So for everyone who understood what Comrade was trying to do at Hopkins by keeping cars out of the park (looks better), or for everyone who understood that the safe pedestrian crossing to get to the BevBike/VeePak Moat meant going 200 feet out of the way at Dan Ryan Woods, thank you.

Carpenter MAY have been the first time pre-riders did NOT cross the finish line. I can tell you, in four races, the pre-ride option has happened 100% of the time. This privilege is courtesy of the USA Cycling Officials, and one we are committed to supporting. Please help pass the word to new people every week. On after the start line and off before the finish line, and don’t pass the active race in progress (bib numbers always give you an idea of the category).

Podiums. As mentioned on this website, they are immediate. They are provisional. We would pause if there is a pending protest on the top three. The first three are needed FOUR minutes after the winner crosses the line. We will respectfully wait for a couple more minutes so teammates still on the course can finish and come join the celebration.

The junior podiums are at set times. We have tried this out for three weeks, and it is starting to take root. The production is courtesy of ChiCrossCup, Chicago Cuttin Crew, Pony Shop Junior Dads, and Spidermonkey, and supported by One2Go Event Services and USA Cycling. In addition to honoring the official age groups of 9-14 and 15-18, we present the 9-12 and 15-16 age groups for pictures. The Cuttin’ Crew also has medals for top 5 ladies in the 9-14 and 15-18. So thanks to Kelly, Sean, and Avi for helping me with this each week.

****** Junior podiums ages 15-18 are at 11:45am.
Junior podiums ages 9-14 are at 12:15pm. ********

Pit Bikes. SRAM does need equipment returned right away, and all pit bikes cleared out each race. So thank you for that.

The weather is going to start to change. To help staging, know the row you ‘may’ be in. if you’re eight row, hang back. if your front row, be ready to go. We are trying to minimize waiting around. Not so critical in the more mild weather, but all a ‘dress’ rehearsal for the winter. Keep your jacket on, but kindly FLASH your number to the recording USA Cycling official as you roll thru. So the goal is to begin reading names and stage super quick/accurate/easy ten minutes prior to start time. That hopefully results in a two or three minute window to start the race. Plenty of time to peel of those outer layers at the last possible moment.

Finally, sincere thanks to everybody who helped tear down the course the last two weeks. It keeps getting faster each time. If you have never helped. its EASY. just ball up course tape until you decide that its big enough, and set it down, or carry it to a central location. Stakes. just lay piles of ten, or if so inclined bring more towards the trailer. The club that will appreciate you the most are the ones packing the trailer and hosting the following week. Any contribution towards clean up no matter how heroic or minor IS appreciated.

Train well, find your cow bell, and see you at #ABDcx Sunday. Which is going to be fun for me, because Todd Busteed is joining us in calling the races for the day!!!!

    • Kenny Labbé
Posted on October 18, 2016 at 6:42 am

Oh, I forgot. And apparently SO did you. The trailer has a lost and found box. It is at Registration every week. Its overflowing. Please find your stuff. We did.

I have three pairs of sunglasses (two from Dan Ryan one from Carpenter) that Todd and I will have at the announcing tent for this week. I am trying to keep them OUT of the lost and found box. We may be wearing them. Only to remind you.

Ooh – here’s hoping the glasses from Carpenter are the pink lens/white eye and nosepiece Smiths I lost!

Posted on October 18, 2016 at 6:21 pm

Sadly, no. But still check the box!

Thank you Jason and Kenny, well said. The Main Street Bicycle Sasquatch Squadron would like to thank all you fine folks for coming out to the Woodland course this past weekend. We super appreciate all the extra help we received from the race community with set up, break down, and all the other little things we did not see. It took a bit of work to pull this one off, and we are grateful as well to the village, school district and park district to allow us to be there.
The course needs to heal, maybe more than most due to the rain, so please lay off the actual track for a while.
For those we owe payout to, please look for our MSBSS logo’s blue tents at the CCC races to pick up your well earned pay out. Uncollected payouts will be donated to the local food pantry.
For those who had issues with vandalism, I am very sorry, please send me a note and let me know more details to help us/local police keep the race environment safe for all.

Another Cat 4 from row 2 all the way back to the mid 20s and back. If you fell in the first lap top 20, I was right behind you and it should be on video.
